Tony Mininno Artist's Statement

As a young child it was recognized that I was born with the ability to express myself through my innate gift of drawing, the world I see around me. I recall spending hours every day with pen, pencil or crayon in hand. It was in my twelfth year that I was introduced to oil painting and it opened up a whole new way of expression for me. I clearly see myself again as I walked into the small cottage studio of my then venerable art teacher, Joseph Trotta, that first time. The studio floor splattered with confetti of paint, the four well seasoned easels that stood in the light of the large north facing windows, classical music softly playing from the radio and the distinctive smells of linseed oil, turpentine and a hint of smoke from the wood burning stove. It was in that moment that painting became and continues to remain my life's one great addiction. Every day I marvel at the amazing and wonderful treasure of ever changing subject matter that Mother Earth presents to me. Whether, twenty feet away or twenty thousand miles away from my studio, my joy is painting her. It is through my paintings that I passionately express and share with the viewer, places I have been and things I see, from the credible to the fantastic.
